Behind the lens
Hi, I am Carla. The person behind the lens at Capture by Carla.
After school, I had to work out what came next, and photography was my obvious first choice. I'd always admired Jordan Matter's work and watched his YouTube videos. That's what really pulled me in. Once I started studying photography, it opened up a whole new world. I hadn't realised how many different genres there were until I tried them for myself. I gravitated towards macro and product photography, and I love manipulating light with flash.
These days, my work sits between two worlds. I enjoy the energy of urban life and culture, and when I want to slow down, I head out to the Western Cape's Garden Route for macro work.
